THE NEED<\/h3>\n

Now more than ever,\u00a0access to water, sanitation,\u00a0and hygiene (WASH)\u00a0is essential during this\u00a0global pandemic.\u00a0Defense against COVID-19\u00a0and other contagious\u00a0diseases requires not\u00a0only clean water for\u00a0handwashing but improved\u00a0sanitation facilities and\u00a0hygiene training to avoid\u00a0the spread of infection. THE APPROACH<\/h3>\n

Over the past 10 years, Water for People has put in\u00a0place WASH facilities in 164 clinics and hospitals across\u00a0nine countries. The organization partners with local\u00a0governments, businesses, and individuals, helping them\u00a0bring sustainable water and sanitation systems to their\u00a0communities by ensuring they have the training and tools\u00a0they need to maintain those systems for generations.<\/p>\n

This year, Water For People has 60 additional health\u00a0clinics and 211 other community facilities ready for WASH\u00a0upgrades. Investing in these systems will provide lasting\u00a0benefits to 53,000 people directly\u2014and many more\u00a0<\/span>throughout the broader community\u2014while also\u00a0immediately reducing the likelihood and pace of\u00a0the spread of contagion. THE GOAL<\/h3>\n

If we act now, there is time to strengthen health systems\u00a0and communities before the expected seasonal shift\u00a0of COVID-19 to the Southern Hemisphere. Focusing\u00a0Philanthropy will add $1 for every $2 contributed\u00a0by Water For People donors, for up to $300,000 in\u00a0matching support toward the overall campaign goal of\u00a0$900,000.\u00a0Water for People is able to provide one person with water for a year for $62. If we reach our goal, we will impact ~14,516 people.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Donations must be a minimum of $1,000 and\u00a0directed to Focusing Philanthropy, a registered 501(c)(3)\u00a0nonprofit and free resource to donors. Donations are\u00a0fully tax deductible and 100% of funds contributed will\u00a0go to the Now More Than Ever Campaign.
