663 million people in the world live without clean water. The majority live in isolated rural areas and spend hours every day walking to collect water for their family. \nTHE OPPORTUNITY<\/h3>\n
Access to clean water means education, income, and health – especially for women and children. For kids in developing countries, access to clean water in schools and at home has a major impact on learning and opportunity.<\/p>\n
\n- 31% of schools lack access to safe water and adequate sanitation globally.<\/strong> Clean water stations give kids a place to wash their hands. Proper latrines provide privacy for young girls. These facilities help keep kids in school and ensure that once they become healthy, they continue to stay healthy.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
\n- 1 in 4 girls do not complete primary school (compared to 1 in 7 boys).\u00a0<\/strong>Girls are often the ones responsible for collecting dirty water for their families, which can take up hours of each day. With access to clean water, they can focus on going to school, studying, and enjoying their childhood.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
\n- 443M school days are lost each year due to preventable water-related disease.<\/strong> (That\u2019s the equivalent to shutting down all school districts in Los Angeles, Chicago, and Miami.) When kids aren\u2019t drinking dirty water, they stay healthier and can devote more time to their education.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

\nTHE GOAL<\/h3>\n
Focusing Philanthropy and charity: water have teamed up on a three-year journey to impact an estimated 40,000 lives, with the goal of raising $1 million to provide 100 schools across Africa and Asia with access to clean water and improved sanitation.<\/p>\n
The 2018 campaign aims to raise $350,000 by December 31 to fund clean water programs for 33 schools across Bangladesh, Cambodia, India, Niger, and Rwanda, directly benefiting more than 15,000 students and teachers.[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n
\nTHE GIVING MATCH<\/h3>\n
Focusing Philanthropy will add $1 for every $2 donated by charity: water donors in support of the campaign between September 10 and December 31, 2018, until the campaign goal of $350,000 is reached.<\/p>\n
To qualify for the match, all contributions must be made through Focusing Philanthropy. Donations are fully tax deductible to U.S. taxpayers, and 100% of every donation will go to the 2018 Clean Water For Children Worldwide campaign. The organization sends 100% of public donations straight to the field to fund sustainable water projects in areas of greatest need, and works with local partners to implement them.
