Welcoming our New CEO
February 2026

“I am excited to join as Focusing Philanthropy’s Chief Executive Officer. In 14 years, the organization has marshaled $200 million in strategic giving to transform 15 million lives for the better. That impact fuels my soul. I look forward to working with our Board, Donors, and Team to continue and expand on our track record of profoundly changing lives.”

About Frank
Frank Beadle de Palomo is a seasoned nonprofit executive and global health leader with nearly four decades of experience advancing organizational growth, philanthropic partnerships, scaling community-driven health, education, and livelihood solutions in the U.S. and across multiple countries, and achieving measurable and transformational impact. His expertise ranges from designing and implementing programs for the prevention, care, and treatment of infectious disease and primary health issues to early childhood development and integrated math and sciences in basic education.
He previously served as President and Chief Executive Officer of mothers2mothers (m2m), an African-based nongovernmental organization headquartered in Cape Town, South Africa, leading its evolution from a single disease-focused organization into an integrated primary health care provider.
Through m2m’s Peer Mentor Community Health Worker model, local women living with HIV were employed to deliver integrated primary health care services. During his 13-year tenure, the organization expanded into six additional countries (for a total of 12), reached more than 13 million people with health services, created thousands of jobs, and doubled average annual revenue from approximately $19 million (2010–2012) to $38 million (2021–2023). Under his leadership, m2m achieved the virtual elimination* of vertical HIV transmission within its cohort for 11 consecutive years, including achieving zero (0%) transmission in 2023.
(*The World Health Organization defines virtual elimination as reducing mother-to-child transmission rates to less than 5% and new pediatric infections by 90%.)
Prior to m2m, Frank was Senior Vice President and Director of the Global Health, Population, and Nutrition Group at FHI 360, where he oversaw a diverse portfolio spanning domestic and global HIV/AIDS, including HIV and the world of work; malaria; infectious diseases; avian influenza; nutrition and food security; water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH); and reproductive, maternal, newborn, and child health across 31 countries.
Earlier in his career, he spent 16 years at the Academy for Educational Development (AED), later acquired by FHI 360, serving as Senior Vice President and Director of both the Center on AIDS & Community Health and the Social Change Group (comprising units designing and leading cutting-edge climate, democracy and governance, health, and youth development practices and solutions).
Before joining AED, Frank founded and directed the National Council of La Raza’s Center for Health Promotion. There, he led nationally recognized initiatives in HIV/AIDS, immunization, tuberculosis, migrant health, substance use, and disability inclusion; coordinated efforts across federal, state, and local agencies; provided capacity-building support to Latino-serving community-based organizations and health departments; represented the organization nationally; and managed multidisciplinary teams.
