Bring clean water and sanitation to 14,000+ students and teachers with Focusing Philanthropy and charity: water

As always, both Focusing Philanthropy and charity: water cover all overhead costs. 100% of every donation will go to the 2019 Clean Water For Children Worldwide campaign.

663 million people in the world live without clean water. The majority live in isolated rural areas and spend hours every day walking to collect water for their family. Not only does collecting water keep kids out of school or take up time that parents could be using to earn money, but the water often carries diseases that can make everyone sick.

Access to clean water means education, income, and health – especially for women and children. For kids in developing countries, access to clean water in schools and at home has a major impact on learning and opportunity.

  • 31% of schools lack access to safe water and adequate sanitation globally. Clean water stations give kids a place to wash their hands. Proper latrines provide privacy for young girls. These facilities help keep kids in school and ensure that once they become healthy, they continue to stay healthy.
  • 1 in 4 girls do not complete primary school (compared to 1 in 7 boys). Girls are often the ones responsible for collecting dirty water for their families, which can take up hours of each day. With access to clean water, they can focus on going to school, studying, and enjoying their childhood.
  • 443M school days are lost each year due to preventable water-related disease. (That’s the equivalent to shutting down all school districts in Los Angeles, Chicago, and Miami.) When kids aren’t drinking dirty water, they stay healthier and can devote more time to their education.

Focusing Philanthropy has partnered with charity: water on a three-year journey to impact more than 40,000 lives by raising $1 million to provide clean water and sanitation in 130 schools in 7 developing countries.

The final year of the “Clean Water For Children Worldwide” campaign aims to raise a combined $358,000 to fund clean water projects at 32 schools—for over 14,000 direct beneficiaries—in Bangladesh, Cambodia, India, Mali, and Niger.

Focusing Philanthropy will add $1 for every $2 donated by charity: water donors in support of Clean Water For Children Worldwide through December 31, 2019, until the campaign goal of $350,000 is reached.

To qualify for the match, all contributions must be made through Focusing Philanthropy. Donations are fully tax deductible to U.S. taxpayers, and 100% of every donation will go to the 2019 Clean Water For Children Worldwide campaign. Both Focusing Philanthropy and charity: water cover all overhead costs.
